Dr. Buğra Kesici graduated from İstanbul Üniversitesi Hukuk Fakültesi (Istanbul University Faculty of Law) with honors in 2011. In 2015, he completed his master's degree in the Economic Law Master’s Program at the İstanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü (Istanbul Bilgi University Institute of Social Sciences), with his thesis titled “Rekabet Hukukunun İhlalinden Kaynaklanan Haksız Fiil Sorumluluğu” (Tort Liability Arising from the Violation of Competition Law) being unanimously accepted.
In 2023, he successfully defended his thesis titled “Anonim Ortaklık Genel Kurul Kararlarının Hükümsüzlüğü” (Invalidity of General Assembly Resolutions in Joint Stock Companies) within the Private Law Department of the Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences, and was unanimously awarded the title of Doctor of Laws. For his doctoral thesis, he conducted academic research for one year at the Max-Planck Karşılaştırmalı ve Milletlerarası Özel Hukuk Enstitüsü (Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law) in Hamburg, Germany, supported by a scholarship from the TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye).
He worked as a research assistant at the Commercial Law Department of Erzincan Üniversitesi Hukuk Fakültesi (Erzincan University Faculty of Law) between 2014 and 2015, and at the Commercial Law Department of Istanbul University Faculty of Law between 2015 and 2023. As of September 2024, he has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Commercial Law Department at Istanbul 29 Mayıs University Faculty of Law.
He concentrates his studies predominantly on the fields of şirketler hukuku (company law), rekabet hukuku (competition law), and sermaye piyasası hukuku (capital markets law). He has authored books, peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and papers in these areas. He is proficient in English and German and is single.
