Osman Açıkgöz graduated from Marmara Üniversitesi Hukuk Fakültesi (Marmara University Faculty of Law) and the İstanbul Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi Tarih Bölümü (Istanbul University Faculty of Letters, Department of History) (full-time education). He completed his Master's degree in 2002 at the Marmara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü (Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences) with a thesis titled “Navlun sözleşmesi ve Konişmentoda Tahkim/Yetki Şartı” (Arbitration/Jurisdiction Clause in Charter Parties and Bills of Lading).
He completed his doctorate at the same institute in 2012 with the thesis titled “Tüketicinin Korunması Çerçevesinde Genel İşlem Koşulları” (General Terms and Conditions within the Framework of Consumer Protection). In March 2019, he applied to the Üniversitelerarası Kurul Başkanlığı’na (ÜAK) (Interuniversity Council Presidency) for the associate professorship in Civil Law and earned the title of doçent (Associate Professor) in the same year with his thesis titled “Tarım Arazilerinde Yasal Önalım Hakkı (Tarımsal Önalım Hakkı)” (Statutory Right of Pre-emption in Agricultural Lands (Agricultural Right of Pre-emption)).
After completing his legal internship, he worked as a freelance lawyer-consultant until 2004. Between 2004 and 2014, he worked at one of the country's leading foreign-partnered mobile telecommunication companies, initially as a legal unit manager (Hukuk işleri Direktörü/1. Hukuk Müşaviri - Director of Legal Affairs/Chief Legal Counsel), and subsequently as “Genel Müdür Hukuk Danışmanı” (Legal Counsel to the General Manager).
Between 2015 and 2017, he served as a board member at Teknopark İstanbul A.Ş., which was established through a public-private sector-university partnership. During this period, he also taught Civil Law courses at the university. Between November 2018 and April 2020, he served as the “Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi Milli Savunma Komisyonu Başkanı Birinci Danışmanı” (First Advisor to the Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly National Defense Commission).
Since April 2020, he has been working as an associate professor faculty member in the Medeni Hukuk Ana Bilim Dalı (Civil Law Department) at the 29 Mayıs University Faculty of Law. He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, books, and book chapters in the fields of Kişiler Hukuku (Law of Persons), Aile Hukuku (Family Law), Borçlar Hukuku (Law of Obligations), Eşya Hukuku (Law of Property), Miras Hukuku (Law of Succession), Tüketici Hukuku (Consumer Law), and Telekomünikasyon Hukuku (Telecommunication Law).
